Me again!

Just wondered if you knew that Jane Weild and Joseph Rutherford had a child Joseph John ,born a couple of months after they married, on 27/9/1867 in Graitney (IGI). It might be easier to trace the family in 1871 using his name as you only get one result , but its not in Dumfries unfortunately.

I have an ancestor who received parochial relief in Wick after her husband was drowned at sea.It looks like she received help from 1886 until 1893 - then the entry in the register is that she was struck off. Can anyone tell me why that would be? surely they wouldn't leave her with no help at all?In an entry in 1886 she is noted as being "wholly disabled" and "partially destitute - no earnings"
In later census she is still listed as a widow living with family.
