Catholic Institute ,Buckie ?.....

Morning everyone ,
On the birth certificate for my g.aunt Georgina Gifford it says : place of birth Catholic Institute,Buckie.
Would this be a Hospital
Georgina was the 4th child of my g.grandparents and all the other children were born at home. I just wondered why this one was different.

Browsing some of the "old" posts I came across yours.

A Google for "Catholic Institute" took me on a grand tour of France!

Couldn't see a "Catholic Institute" on an Old Map of Buckie, just a chapel.

Your question why a birth here and not at home like the others? My only answer: 4th child, a quick labour which took her by surprise while down at the Chapel.

I take it this is your Georgina on www.moray.gov.uk It doesn't say her birth was at The Catholic Institute but her death was ? ( this site has been a god send to me but a few things are slightly wrong and they are open to correction)

Hi Tracey,
Thanks for checking it out... i have already found this wonderful site.
It is on Georgina's birth cert that states she was born at the Catholic Institute.
On her death cert it gives place of death as her home : 11 St Peters Place,Buckie.
She died of TB.
