Morning,
Looking at the LIBINDX site it gave as a place of death for my ancestor ... Andersons Wards.
Would this be a hospital or a place?
Where would it be found and is it still there?
My relative was from Banffshire.
Cheers,Carole.

Hello Carole
Andersons Residential Home in Elgin was opend in 1832 the inscription above the door reads "Elgin Institute for the support of old age and the education of youth". The school part of the institute is now what forms East End school. It is thought there were wards at one time.
Th "Cafe " is believed to have been 77 High Street Elgin which is Timpsons shoe shop. Apparently there used to be a close done the side which is now part of a shop.
I will look and see if I can find out about the close next week.
Heather
