Is it possible that there's a record somewhere of those that worked on the construction of the Forth Bridge?
I have a vague recollection of my grandmother telling me that her father-in-law was involved (he was a blacksmith, by trade). Most of these vague recollections of mine have turned out to have some substance.

Hi Hibee
Those who died are listed here
http://www.forthbridges.org.uk/forth%20 ... deaths.htm
but I don't know of a list of those who helped with the construction and survived the experience...
Best wishes
Lesley

Hello Hibee,
Here’s a Scotsman Heritage & Culture Q&A that may help. http://heritage.scotsman.com/genealogy/ ... 2838850.jp
It concludes:
“The contractor for the construction of the bridge was Sir William Arrol and Co Ltd. The records of this company are held by Glasgow City Archives at the Mitchell Library. It is unlikely that they would have lists of the workers they employed, but you might contact Glasgow City Archives to find out.”

Re: Forth Bridge
The piers of the bridge, and harbour, were constructed by Thomas Meik & sons of Edinburgh, who also built the dam at Kinlochleven. This firm became William Halcrow named for one of their engineers. Halcrow's, I believe, still holds their share of the bridge records.
