G'Day everyone!
My mother just gave me some old birth and marriage records for her grandparents in Scotland. The marriage certificate for my great-grandfather, Patrick Toland, lists his occupation as a "landscape painter".
He was married in Glasgow in 1875 at age 40 to Ellen Brannan.
Has anyone ever heard of Patrick Toland as an artist? Does anyone have one of his paintings hanging on their wall?
I would appreciate any information that anyone may have.
Thank-you.
Nancy

Hi Nancy
Sorry....nothing on Patrick Toland as a landscape painter. Not to be a damp squib but his occupation on the 1871 census was as "house painter"
. Maybe he made his living from houses and indulged his true passion for canvas on the side? Do you have him located on other census records to track his occupation? Here's hoping you can find some better evidence of his talent!!
Best wishes
Jean
