Weaving.....

Post by Alice Bradford » Thu Apr 27, 2006 2:30 am

Hi,
I have ancestors that were weavers. One was a weaver in 1798 at Swenton, Lanark. I would like to know what kind of weaving they did. Where can I read about the weaving done in Scotland 200 years ago? Do you think it is in the genes? In college I took weaving classes and have a loom.
Thanks,
Alice

Hi Alice

As indicated in an e-mail, your post has just been moved to the Working Lives Forum.

You'll find a sticky at the top of the page with lots of information about Weaving in Scotland. Someone will probably be around who can answer your particular uestion about weaving in Swenton, Lanark.

Best wishes

Catriona
