Hi,
At some stage my g grandfather was a railway porter in Glasgow. Any ideas how I could find out any info on when he started, who he worked for etc.
As I live in N Ireland I'm a bit out of my depth here !!
Thanks, Angela

Hi Angela
Since you didn't give dates to pin things down a bit I have the web address for Scotland's railway history.
http://www.railscot.co.uk/
If it was the 1850's there were lots of smaller railway companies into and around Glasgow/Lanarkshire/Renfrewshire. They all were merged eventually so if you have an address for your g-grandfather from a census it would help narrow down the list of possible companies.
Bet you never thought you'd be studying railway history when you started out on this genealogy quest did you?
