Does anybody ever visit Coupar Angus Cemetery

There are two cemeteries in Coupar Angus
under about a foot and a half of snow

Apparently There are four cemeteries in the Coupar Angus area: The Abbey Churchyard,
Bendochy Churchyard, Grampian View and Bendochy Cemetery,



i did pass by it many years ago and the woman just refeered it to been Coupar Angus Cemetery i do remember when i was in dundee with my grandfathers cousin i was in there car and they did say the people mentioneed were buried in the grave yard , unfortunately i didnt make a note of were when,but i do remeber it was on a bend,

but i do have some cuttings from newspaper,and one particular notice had : leaving Ruthven arriving at the Common, Coupar Angus, Coupar Angus Churchyard,

So which is referred to as The Common Coupar Angus, Coupar Angus Churchyard,

I wouldnt expect anybody to Venture in to a Graveyard in this weather.

This is probably the abbey church yard just at the end of the road from Dundee

Yes this is the Abbey church yard
The area next the road that is overgrown with trees(opposite end of cemetery from church next the road) contains ruins of the original Abbey

G'day Keith,
Did you ever find someone to do a visit ? I am looking for the grave of Ann or Annie Thomson who died there after 1901. A gets a bit wide because she may also have used the name Duncan, Gibson and Cassidy. (Had children of all those names)
And unrelated to graves, has anyone got information on St. Catherines Croft, Coupar Angus ? Records about 1710.

Hello Fred,

I can’t find much about St Catherine’s Croft. During the 19th Century various parts of it were advertised for sale, including a foundry.

There’s mention on page 342 of “Influence of the pre-reformation church on Scottish place-names” 1904. http://books.google.com.au/books?id=ZiA ... CDQQ6AEwAQ

“To the north of Cupar Monastery in Angus was St Catherine's Croft, described in the Register of the Abbey as "the croft abune the burn called 'Sanct Katernis Croft.' “
