Hi Jean,
Has your CD arrived yet? I have a lot of folks around Uphall/Ecclesmachan at the time the CD covers and I'm curious to know the level of information it provides!
Best wishes
Brian

Re: West Lothian FHS
Hi Brian
The CD has arrived. I can really recommend it to anyone who has ancestors in these areas.
I already had death certs for many of mine, but the lair records provide details of everyone in each lair. I suppose the main thing that I have come across is the number of children born in between the censuses and their deaths before the next census. It would make you weep.
Regards
Jean

Re: West Lothian FHS
Hi Jean & Eric,
Thank you both for the information.
Jean, being able to find out who is in each lair is ideal, as my lot had quite common names and it's expensive trying to fill in the gaps. I agree about the number of children dying - in my own travels I have seen a number of stones in cemeteries where all, or the majority, of children from a family predeceased their parents at ages from birth to early teens. It does bring you up short and makes you pause to reflect.
Eric, thanks for the breakdown of the information on the CD - I have seen a similar one for Cambusnethan at the Heritage Centre in Motherwell and I was hoping that the WLFHS held the same information. I had seen the St Nicholas link a wee while ago and was amazed to see a gravestone (albeit cracked) for my 3xG Grandparents - just goes to show that you never know when these nuggets will appear.
Now, where's the chequebook......
Thanks
Brian
