Hi again Annette,

I don't know if you traced Catherine's mother Ann Munro back or not, but I got curious because of the Munros in my family so I started looking. I found Ann in 1861 living with her sister-in-law Helen and children--no husband of Helen's in sight, but he would had to have been Ann's brother. I found Ann at age 9 months in 1841 with her parents James Munro and Isabella--either McBean or McBain living in Nairn with Margaret, William, Isabella, and James for brothers and sisters. I did a births search on SP and there is also a sister Catherine born in 1843. On her birth OPR it's Anne Munroe 12/5/1840 and her parents names are James Munroe and Isabella McBean. On William's birth OPR mother's name is McBain. All of them are shown as born in Nainshire which means they definitely aren't any of mine though the children's names are familiar! I got the children's names off the 1841 census on SP.

Thought you might like a little extra infomation. I didn't get as far as the 1851 Census tonight!

Thanks Carol.

I had managed to follow Anne's family through her death entry. I didn't have the 1861 census though - thanks for that. I used FREECEN for the 1841 & 1851.

Munro seems to be a fairly common name in those parts. :D

Kind regards,
Annette M

There are a gazillion Munros out there and marital fidelity doesn't seem to have been a strong suit in my family's branch in the early to mid-1800's. That's why I was curious about Ann Munro's parents and family.

People also seem to have moved around a lot back then probably to find work. My grandmother's immediate family was from Newhills and Old Machar, but her oldest sister was born in Dublin, Ireland. You just never know where a relative is going to show up! :o
