Thank you Ladies! =D>

The N was the last letter I woud have wildcarded out!

SP have it as Browlee as well, I wonder which accent was responsible her Doric or his supposed Durham one?

A sprinkling of extra children there too, more digging required.

Thanks again for all that information, filled in a few gaps here and there.

I was talking to my Aunt last night and mentioned it to her and she told some family legend:

Grandma Brownlie did go to Canada to live with her daughter Lena, but came back home because she didn't want "stood up in a shed until Spring"
Apparently, she had this idea [perhaps true?] that if she had died in the winter in Canada, that they would have put her in her coffin and stood it upright in cold storage until the ground thawed in the Spring and a grave could be dug!!!!
So she hightailed it back hame.

She needn't have worried, she died 25 years later in her 90th year - in JUNE!

 Great story, Wilma! Grandma Brownlie sounds like quite a character!

Nice to be able to fill in the gaps and get a fuller picture of her life.

Sarah
