Actually I'm thinking the chap didn't have his original BC or any information as he didn't ever get the year right..only the month and day!!! It would be interesting to find his naturalization papers and see what is stated there. After 1906 in the US these contain a good deal of information.

Best wishes

PS..for those who are following this...Johnston was Henry's mum's maiden name.

What can I say - you are a treat and thank you very much.

It is certainly him. One question how do I go about getting his naturalization papers?

I have been looking to trace him for a long time and keep picking him out and trying. I said to my mum there and she said someone did say that one of the siblings did go to America but was not sure who - but she had forgotton all about it until I mentioned tracing him by yourself.

Once again thank you sooooooooooooooo much

Surprisingly the birth certificate is in perfect condition - obviously he left it and my grandfather who was the youngest
(only 6 when his parents both died in 1905 within 3 days of each other) and it was his sisters who brought him up and probably Harry until he left in 1906.

Hmmm....might not be simple and they might not be found but the US census records indicate that in 1920 he had filed first papers and by 1930 census he claims he is naturalized. If this is accurate then his final naturalization should be found in this 10 year spread. There is a great link to info about St. Louis naturalizations here: http://www.genealogybranches.com/stloui ... ation.html

Sadly I've viewed the links contained therein for the free online indexes and I'm not seeing his name. That would have been too easy!!!! You're only recourse might be to contact the NARA Kansas City Branch but that will cost you! You might also try your Family History Center and see if they can obtain any microfilms of naturalization documents from this area and this time frame.

So glad you've finally found him and been able to take him off your list!

Best wishes
