Hi to all,
Sorry for the late reply - i have just been to the dentist for a Crown fitting and was in the chair for an hour !! anyway thanks for all the replies i will try and answer some questions.
I have to admit i can't recall the last piece of info from Jack re the two John Purcels' at the Blackfriars lodging house - i can only think that it was at the time when my dear sister was very ill as it was a few months before she sadly died and we were back and forward to Scotland quite a lot at that time.
I have to admit it that it does look like them. John Jnr went on to marry Annie Rogers in 1904 and he is my husband's gt grandfather. The question is why is John snr there without his wife and did he indeed go back to Belfast that year of 1901?
Lesley, It could be the case that there was another son Patrick living in Ireland - maybe she had him there while on a visit but not much chance of me finding out.
Why do you think the son William would say they were in Belfast - if they were not there ? debts maybe?
Thanks for the interest,
Ailsa
Can someone have a look please

'cos sometimes if someone is applying for poor relief they prefer to imply that there is no family nearby who could help them out financially, for many different reasons which I'm sure you can work out!Why do you think the son William would say they were in Belfast - if they were not there ? debts maybe?
best wishes
