Oh how I wish I had found this site before doing my own detective work on the McNaughton/tans & come to the same conclusion about the parentage of the (in)famous Daniel. Are you still interested in this topic? Are you interested in comparing notes? I don't know that I have discovered anything that you have not already found out but I have been independently working on Daniel and his family. Aye, Mandy and I have been doing a joint effort on Daniel for months.
It is an interesting wee trail.
His half-brother was the Lord Mayor of Blackpool.
I doubt if we will ever find a record of his birth though.
Reports at the time of the trial in 1843, his age varies from 33 to 39.
The information from the Warden book was only obtained last week.
That is where we got the Urie info.
