Hi everyone
Well I posted this before I went to bed and have just gotten up to find all these replies.
George was a Flax Dresser I realise now - I had only been able to make out the word Dresser on his daughter's marriage certificate, now I can see the first word is Flax.
This is the immigration list:
SURNAME Firstname AGE EVENTS REMARKS VESSEL MONTH YEAR REEL
TEVENDALE George 37 and family Parthia 1886 2143, 2497
TEVENDALE Isabella 32 and family Parthia 1886 2143, 2497
TEVENDALE Jeanie 4 and family Parthia 1886 2143, 2497
TEVENDALE John 5 and family Parthia 1886 2143, 2497
TEVENDALE William inft and family Parthia 1886 2143, 2497
I should have put that in, but I didn't know you'd be so enthusiastic! (should have known better)
The children were John Findlay Tevendale, Jean Eadie Davidson Tevendale and William Carrie Tevendale. Elizabeth Ann Stuart Tevendale was born in Australia. It's easy to track the family in Victoria Aust as there are only 2 Tevendale families.
On Jean/Jane's marriage certificate it says she was born in Arbroath.
I'll print out the replies now & make sense of it all
Thanks
April
