If you go to www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk (just click on the Scotlands People link at the top of this page)you can find a wealth of material for Scottish births, deaths and marriages after 1855 and also some OPR info - Parish Registers before 1855. It will cost you a small amount of money though - £6 will buy you 30 "credits", and you need to have credits before you can search the births deaths and marraiges.

On the Scotlands People web site (SP) - as Andrew said there is a death of a James Bone in Wigtownshire in 1859 which may be worth looking at. Even if that is not him there only appear to be 5 James Bone deaths from 1855 onwards.
