The 3 1841 Census CDs that I have for Renfrewshire have numerous Mrs + Surname. No given name.

I had that with a relatives second marriage - her husband is listed with his full name but she is listed as Mrs Blake. I wondered if it was perhaps the accent that threw whomever took the information off as she was from Ireland and both her and her daughter were named Bridget (and Bridget jr's name is recorded less than accurately too). Maybe if it was the enumerator perhaps he couldn't be bothered to say "what was that name" again and again :)
