Expertise

Post by cattie41 » Wed Feb 09, 2005 3:58 pm

WOW! I'm impressed, David - not only do we get your expertise on genealogy, but also your expertise as a chemical engineer. That was interesting.

Hey Nancy, fancy finding you over here. I just noticed you are researching "McNair".... DUH! This grandfather I'm researching (John Miller) has "McNair" in his family. His father was William McNair Miller,(1858-1931) and William's mother was Janet McNair? (1829-....) Starting at West Lothian, to Carluke, Larkhall. Janet was born in New Monkton. Lanarkshire. Any connection?

I can't resist one quote here........"Young developed the process of refining oil and created the world's first oil industry based on the oil shales of West Lothian" O:)

Thanks, Davie, that was interesting, and I can appreciate that quote. Funny enough, I am researching West Lothian right now!

The McNair (gt gt grandmother) I have is Margaret McNair born 21 Aug 1802-1864, Beith, (from James McNair and Janet Barbour) married David Caldwell. I haven't gone into her line as yet.

McNair

No, Nancy, I don't think it is the same line. I have a William McNair Miller (1858), whose mother was Janet McNair (1829) from New Monkton, Lanark, and her father was William McNair (1800) - married to Elisabeth Black. Perhaps they are related, but I can't see how right now, can you?
