census 1851

Post by deano » Fri Mar 24, 2006 1:10 pm

Hello Duncan,

While I agree that the Scotlandspeople Site, is the best on the web, where I find fault with your statement, you mention the 1851, census, and how Gross, are delighted that its up and running, there is still no mention to the customer's that lots of this census are missing, and I mean lots, in particular Ayrshire, where I have great Knowledge of having studied this area in particular for almost 40years, the whole of Kilmarnock, is missing, and as I stated lots of other parts of Ayrshire,
would it not have been respectful to the customers of Scotlandspeople, to have mentioned at the very least that Kilmarnock, was missing on their site.

Regards,
Jonn.

Hello Duncan

Many thanks for taking the time to post this update.

A bit of communication goes a long way - and the apology contained within is much appreciated. My blood pressure is normal, although I must work on improving my impatience!

I agree that the resource is fantastic, and contrary to many opinions, reasonably priced.

Keep up the good work.

Kind Regards

Ellen.

1841 census - when?

Post by Rachel » Sat Mar 25, 2006 4:04 pm

:) Well done Duncan MacNiven you took that on the chin and came back nicely-thank you. I subscribe to several genealogy sites trying to find my roots in Scotland,England,Ireland and Wales as well as a wheen of rellies in the U.S.A, Australia and N.Z. I can think of no other web site that offers such a wealth of information as well as currently 6 census dates. Thank you also for the information you have just given out on Talking Scot and I look forward to April when hopefully I can round off some conundrums.

The availability date for 1841 was changed on the SP site to Apr/May 2006 on Friday afternoon.

There's no conflict there with Duncan Macniven's post above, just a sensible safety factor in case anything goes wrong, however unlikely, in the runup to the planned date of around 20th April.
