Hi Maggie and William,

Thanks for that Maggie but not sure it does help!

I've spent the day trying to find a marriage between Bell/Finlayson, Scott/Finlayson or Laidlaw/Finlayson but nothing.
The Bell family were at Hallrule from 1861 census onwards, the Scotts were there from 1871 onwards and the Laidlaws 1851, 1891 & 1901.

Perhaps the family in the photo were just good friends and not relations cos I'm blowed if I can find a connection :?
Its probably something really obvious but I can't find it.

Yep they could easily just have been friends or perhaps relatives from another branch of the family ie not from the Finlayson line.
