Annette,

Thanks for that one. I remember looking at her and putting it aside because the girls Robertson and Martha weren't there. Also, if you look at the others on the page there is a James Milne family living at the same address and a David Milne 13, living next door. Obviously, this needs more digging! And Robertson and Martha must be out there somewhere too.

Hi Carol

On the birth certificate for James Dunningham, born at Allardice Street, Stonehaven, Fetteresso in January 1863, his mother is given as Robison Milne - there is a marriage date of November 1862 in Aberdeen for her marriage to Philip Dunningham - but I cannot find this at all.

I then searched for Robison Milne in 1841 and she appears then in Fetteresso as a farm servant aged 17 but it says she was born in Kincardineshire, this can be found on both Ancestry and SP.

Susan.

Susan

How did you search for James Dunningham on SP? I have tried both Fetteresso and Stonehaven and All Districts and keep getting No Results!

Susan,

Found the birth certificate for James by searching D*unningham!

No luck on the marriage certificate. It's interesting that James' BC shows a marriage because Robertson's second child Philip is born in the Aberdeen City Poorhouse in 1866. No father shown, last name Milne and his mother is Robinson Milne.

Wish I could get a look at the Poor Relief applications for her!

Thanks for the information. I have found Robertson/Robinson on the 1841 Census now. There are Collies and McKays both there and in Aberdeen on Skene St. near her mother.

Only Martha is still missing in 1841--plus any other kids I haven't found yet!

Hi Carol

Since it was quite an unusual name I went for quite a wide search to see who all it picked up. I used Surname - Dunningham & County - Kincardine - and that only came up with the one entry - your James Dunningham.

I tried again just now and using Dunningham and Fetteresso that comes up with one entry - which should be yours also.

Back in 1863 Stonehaven was split between the parishes of Fetteresso and Dunnottar - it was not until about the 1930s that entries were recorded as Stonehaven.

Hi Susan,

We crossed paths earlier!

I just looked for a death certificate for Philip Dunningham Sr.

He died in the Old Machar Poorhouse June 2, 1866 at the age of 70 years!

Philip Jr. Robertson's son was born June 3, 1866 in the Aberdeen City Poorhouse.

Philip Sr. is listed as a Seaman on his death cert and a fish hawker on James Dunningham's birth cert. Philip Sr. is also shown as the widower of Annette Benzie. (Correction by me! Anne McKenzie)
