Hi Jack
I found Rose's death, she died at the same address in 1902, I will keep looking for Charles he has to be there somewhere! The birth I got for Patrick seems to be yet another McKenna because he is not the one you found in 1881. For now I will concentrate on Charles

Hi Jack
Yes, it says married to Charles McKenna and Charles McKenna widower was the informant. Under cause of death it days "supposed apoplexy, died suddenly, no medical attendant." It also gives her age as 58 but the census said 64. At least I got her parents names, William Sheridan and Helen Sheridan ms (Bryeeland?)

Thanks Cathie,
I'd meant to ask about Rose's age - means Charles' age may be a wee bit out too.
At least you know it's 1902+ for Charles! Hope he stayed on in Scotland.
And if he did you'd expect his death to occur in Renfrewshire, but if not then maybe a Glasgow hospital?
I've been caught out a few times with rellies that died in Glasgow hospitals; i'd been searching for them in their home town of Paisley....
Jack
ps. could Rose's mother's ms be Bryceland?

Hi Jack
I think you might be right about the name Bryceland. I still have not found Charles and there are not that many deaths from 1902 on. I have no luck on the IGI for any of them. It seems to me that no matter what side of my family I look into all of them lead back to Co. Tyrone or Monaghan and then I am well and truly stuck. Ah well, if nothing else I am persistent.

Hi Jack
I just now found him. He died a pauper in "Busby"? Combination Poorhouse July 1904 age 60. Cause of death malignant disease of stomach many months. Unfortunately his parents do not match John's so I guess they were not brothers after all.

Hi Cathie,
And after all your hard work too! but until you'd checked out Charles you might still be wondering if he was John's brother.
I presume that their respective parents have nothing in common whatsoever? Just wishful thinking!
Yes, the name is Busby - abt 3mls south of Pollokshaws. There's a link to Poorhouses on the TS Home Page under Sources.

Hello Jack
Thanks for all your help with this, I am putting this lot of McKennas on the back burner for a wee while but I will get back to them. I feel that there are too many of them on the same street for them not to be related somehow. I had a look at the poorhouse section but there is not much on Busby. Related or not, I feel sorry for poor Charles ending up a pauper when his son John James lived next door. Still, who knows what the circumstances were.
Thanks again
Cathie
