Another item on the web regarding the Adamson Institute reads as follows.
  • First Adamson Hospital, closed in 1883 when Ceres was decided to be an unsuitable site, and leased to the Leith Fortnight Holiday Scheme for underprivileged town children, who purchased it in 1901. New Adamson Hospital set up in Cupar in 1903 - see separate entry.

Hi Andrew
Genuki says:
http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/sct/FIF/li ... chives.htm
Fife Council Archive Centre have:
"Hospital Records (mostly administrative files including minute books, accounts and annual reports): Adamson Hospital, Cupar 1865-1979"
So it looks like the hospital may have been around earlier than the start date given on the architects site on your link above of 1873. Presumably the records cover the split site of Ceres/Cupar, given the date range.

Not that it helps much with the Adamson Institute query...

Best wishes
Lesley
