The current census website indicates that the 1901 SCOTLAND CENSUS is available at LDS Family History Centres, this is incorrect.
Salt Lake made the decision not to purchase any of the 1901 Films for duplication and distribution through their FHC Network, citing that the images were already available and accessible through the GROS website. They also cited the high cost of purchasing the complete set. They, may however, purchase the information in order to make a CD-ROM of the 1901 Census, but I cannot confirm this.
We at the Los Angeles FHC have been purchasing the 1901 Census Films directly from GROS and to our knowledge are the only FHC, at present,
to have any of these films.

1901 SCOTLAND CENSUS
Thanks Andrew.
I had word from GROS about 18 months ago when I was trying to get the breakdown of each film reel in preparation for purchase, that Salt Lake were in negotiating for the information, but couldn't settle on a price. I tried my contacts on the British Floor at Salt Lake, but they hadn't heard anything.
I doubt it unlikely that Salt Lake will make the purchase, since they are putting their monies in other directions, specifically digitizing a lot of their records and putting them up on the Web. They have removed a lot of films from the Main Library and consolidated their facilities at the Joseph Smith Building back into the Main Building. All the first filming of the Scottish Church Records [1952 filming] were removed and only the second filming [1974 filming] remain. Unfortunately, someone at Salt Lake thought they were exact duplicate filming. Material moved in and out of GROS in the 20 year period of filmings, so there are some differences. The first filmings can still be viewed, but they have to be ordered 24 hours ahead of time in order to have them in the Main Building from Archives.

1901 CENSUS + other SCOTTISH Material
Hi Davie,
Thanks for the e-mail. I've been around for a while. When I started 2 or 3 years trying to get the info out of GROS on what Parishes were each of the 1901 films and was getting nowhere, I posted requests on the old User Group site to see if anyone else could help me. I eventually got the information from GROS with the help of Paul Parr and others. I'm now working with Hayley Martin on purchasing the 1901 Films for the Los Angeles FHC.
I've been a Volounteer at L.A. for about 12 years now and am in charge of their Scottish Collection, which at present hold around 3000 Films and about 6000 Microfiche.
I've also been compiling a series of "RED BOOK" for the Scottish Rsearchers. L.A.'s RED BOOKS are quick access information and helper type binders. Basically, all the information a Researcher might need is in a single source. Saves going through Film cabinets, web sites and the like.
On Scottish Census I've compiled a Cross Reference Chart for all the Scottish Census including the 1901 and includes both filmings of the 1841 and 1851 Census. Along the top are each Census and down the side are each of the 1901 Parishes and City Districts and in-between are the exact film numbers you need to locate your area of research.
I've also been working on a cross-reference of both filmings of the Scottish Church Records, the 1950's and 1970's filming, because few people know they are not exact duplicates. I've been using Blohams "Key to Scottish Parochial Records" to try and indicate what years exist and where the gaps in the records are.
I completed a similiar Project on the Scottish Non-Conformist Church Records and that was published and released by the British Isles Family History Society in June. I offered it to them as a multi part entry for their bi-annual journal, but they published it in it's entireity. So, you may want to check with your local Geneaology Society if they have a copy.
One of the biggest exercises has been to try and Catalogue all the Scottish Films in the LDS Catalogue. As strange as it may seem, there are a lot of mistakes and no one in Salt Lake really knows what they have.
I found an entry of a speach Dean Hunter, from the British Unit at Salt Lake had given to the Scottish Society Of Genalogical Societies in which he stated there were 12,232 Films in the Scottish Collection at Salt Lake. To date I have found 13, 340 Films in the Catalogue that have Scottish Records on them. The "RED BOOK" for that is already 400 pages. Other RED BOOKS available at present for Patrons at LAFHC are CIVIL REGISTRATION, REGISTRATION DISTRICTS, and LAND + PROBATE RECORDS, listing all LDS Catalgue numbers available.
I Have a few more RED BOOKS planned, but trying to juggle my day time job and working at the Centre on weekends, i'm stretched very thin. But I'll do my best to further the Scottish Cause.

SCOTTISH RECORDS
Thanks Catriona,
I've been trying to get someone who could could put this on a web site for everyone, but they've balked at the prospect of the volume of the files and how I have my charts arranged for easy reading.
We have a new webmaster for our LAFHC site, so I might see if he's up to the challenge and get some these "RED BOOKS" made available for you folks that can't make it to L.A.

I belong to a genealogy club here in Palm Desert California and if you have the "RED BOOKS" available I'm sure my club would love to purchase one. If you have any available you can instant message me on this site or email me.
Thanks, and once again welcome.

Just to echo what has already been said.
I think your project and work is fantastic and I wish you all the best in your future projects. I also sincerely hope that you get the assistance you need to place the files on a suitable web site.

SCOTTISH RESEARCH
INA,
Thanks for the e-mail. Unfortunately the RED BOOKS are only at L.A., they are each 2" 3-Ring Binders. The SCOTTISH CHURCH RECORDS are at present 7 volumes, 2 that I have put together, on the breakdown of Scottish Records between the 1950's and 1970's Filming. I expect another 2 volumes before that Project is finished. The other 5 volumes I put together from material I requested from Salt Lake. This is a Project that Barbara Baker from their British Unit put together on the Church in Scotland. She has listed the locations and brief Histories of all the Church of Scotland and over 4,000 Non-Conformist Churches. The Project is arranged by Parish and is about 1800 pages. To my knowledge, L.A. and McLean, Virginia are the olny FHC's with this 5 volume set.
If you send me a mailing address I can send you some material that might be of help to you on Scottish Research. I am also doing 2 all day Scottish Workshops later on this year. On the 13th August I'm at Burbank and on 5th November I'm at Escondido in San Deigo County.
