I am stumped!
This line of the McMenemy family is driving me crazy!!
what I know:
1891 census has:
William head
Flora wife
Alexander @age 10 son
Christina daur
Hugh son
John Joseph son
Thomas son
Christina McClellan MIL
William and Flora have another daur, Flora in 1895.
William dies in 1896, Thomas dies 1894.
Flora remarries in 1901, Edward Broadhurst.
I can find Flora and Edward with little Flora in 1901, the rest seemed to have gone off somewhere, but where?? Granny McClellan was alone in 1901 according to the census records, The McMenemy granparents were deceased, the aunts and uncles do not seem to have taken the kids in that I can find.
I know Christina married a chap by the name of Fairley @1906
John married Magie McGown
Hugh may have been killed in WW1 (the dates, and age fit on the service return.)
so that leaves Alexander......
He was a witness to my gg Aunts wedding in 1910, so where the heck was he from 1891+ to 1910???
Any ideas?
Karen

Karen,
A few questions to help those of us who like poking around.....
Where were they in 1891?
Are the children listed in age order? And what years were they born?
What was William's occupation?
Where were the parents and children born?
Have you found the parents in 1881?
Especially with a name like McMenemy with so many
spelling possibilities, details like these are helpful for trying the back doors of census research.

What happened to Alexander?
Hi...I am relatively new to these forums.
Just wanted to tell you that a lot of my 'missing people' from Scotland and in England were located as having fought in both Boer Wars(South Africa) which occurred in the given 'missing' timeslot.
The men who went to the 1st.big stoush were mostly volunteers,so may not be listed in National Archives.
Worth a search though! I googled Boer War 1&2,found a lot of surnames.
Cheers,
Gill
