1861 Help please - McIvor

Post by vickory » Sat Jan 12, 2008 1:32 am

Hi Everyone,
I'm trying to find Elizabeth McIvor in the 1861 census.
She married 15th April 1861 at age 18 years, her address was given as St Mary's Wynd, Edinburgh.
As it was only a week after census night I thought she would have been in Edinburgh. She was not with her father & stepmother in Cupar nor with her husband to be at ChanceLot Farm, Edinburgh.
I have found 2 Elizabeth McIvor's one 47 years & one 22 years but mine was only 18... Should I ignore the age discrepancy & get the image for the 22 year old with my fingers crossed or keep searching.

Is there anywhere that one can search the census by the actual street name?

Regards, Vicki

Hello Anne,

Thanks for that, I was searching using El* McIVOR.
So now I tried with El* McIv*r & found her.

Now I have a new problem because she is with her father & a different wife & siblings that I knew nothing about...

looks like I'm back to the drawing board with this lot, better get more credits

Regards, Vicki. :?

You mean her father was listed twice with two different families? Or that the one in Cupar isn't her father after all?

Just curious 8)

Hello Sarah,

Gee I hadn't thought of her father having 2 different families

I hope I jumped the gun & chose the wrong Patrick McIVOR, the one in Cupar. instead of the right Patrick McIVOR, the one at St Mary's Wynd.

I have quite a lot of certificates now for this family with their address at various numbers St Mary's Wynd or St Mary's St so am confident I have finally the right Patrick McIVOR connected to his family.

The Patrick at Cupar is a different family...I hope!

Regards Vicki.
