Hi Leanne
Have you tried a search for them on freecen, www.freecen.org.uk or on Scotlands People (link at top of page)? If you are having difficulty finding them, someone will be able to help you. :D

Best wishes
Lesley

Dear Lesley,
Thankyou for the prompt reply. I found the info that i sent to the list on Freecen, 1841 search, they are not on the 1851 on Freecen. I have not tried Scotlands People as yet, but will have a look there.
Thankyou,Leanne

McNab censuses

Post by Jack » Sun Feb 17, 2008 4:47 pm

Hi Leanne and Lesley,
The family aren't showing up on FreeCen for 1851 because the district they are in isn't online yet.
Please see - http://www.freewebs.com/mmjeffery/index.htm

1851. 644/1. Glasgow. Inner High 33-38. (Inner High was also known as St. Mungo)
Here's Archibald & family from Ancestry who in 1851 have them as McWAB...
--
1851 cens 644-1 (556) Ed 34 p 19 (St. Mungo)
Huntingdon Place.

Daniel McNAB, son, 16, Mason, app, b Irvine, AYR

Mary McNAB, daur, 7, Scholar, b Glasgow, LKS

--
1861 cens 625-1 Ed 1 p 10 (Bothwell)
SW Glasgow Rd., Silverwells House.
.........[house schedule 65]
Archibald McNAB, head, 50, Carter, b Glenorchy, ARL
Mary McNAB, wife, 56, Carter? b Arran, BUT
Margaret McNAB, daur, 22, Carter? b Glasgow, LKS
Mary McNAB, daur, 17, Carter? b Glasgow, LKS
Mary McNAB, sister, 40, House proprietor, b Glenorchy, ARL
Andrew McDERMID, cousin son, 6, Scholar, b Glasgow, LKS
William WEIR, servant, 17, Carter, b Kilpatrick, DNB

--
Just a wee note here...
...Ancestry in 1861 has six McDougall children, plus a nurse & a servant as also staying with Archibald.
But they are actually in house schedule 66.
Those six children's parents (James McDougall & Agnes Malcolm) are in Laurieston.

Thanks for bringing this up, Jack :D -- I've been meaning to say something of the kind. This happens ALL TOO FREQUENTLY :!: Always check the household schedule number when looking up census information on Ancestry, since the household groups as sorted on the index are quite often incorrect!

All the best,
Sarah

I would like to thank all those who replied so promptly and informatively to my request for census information re: McNab. I have not been able to reply before now due to daughters' wedding.
Thankyou all and keep up the wonderful work.
