1911 census .....

Post by ladybird » Thu Jun 30, 2005 12:37 pm

Hi folks
Can anyone tell me if the above is available "anywhere" please.
I'm looking for my g/grandmother Sarah (nee Marah) Townsend.

She was admitted to Edinburgh District Asylum in Jan 1912 then tranferred to Kingseat Mental Hosp, Aberdeen. Poor old dear seems to have spent the last 20 years of her life there.

I assume she was living with her son John Townsend in Edinburgh in 1911.

Hi Sylvia,

Under current legislation, the 1911 census will not be available until early 2012. It is covered by the 100 year closure rule. 6½ years and counting down...

All the best,

Andrew Paterson

There's a campaign for an earlier release date in England.

Were that campaign to be successful then GROS might follow the same route, but remember they would still have to digitise it and index it in order to put it on-line, and microfilm it to make it available at NRH.
