Census help

Can anyone trying to find in the 1901 census a william livingstone and mary livingstone nee docherty in kirkconnel trying to find what children they had did a search on sp and hit a blank any ideas of what i can do to narrow this down a bit i even have a couple of address

Hi Claire:

Searching for John and Mary Livingstone/Livingstone in Kirkconnel in 1901 finds no hits.

Looking at their marriage cert which you posted yesterday, their ages would have been: john - 28/29 and Mary 26/27 in 1901.

Searching 1901 census without a location, shows 3 records of John and 7 records of Mary. If you look at the summary sheets on SP and cross check the locations, perhaps you will have success.

There is this family on SP - Ancestry has Levingstone.

Netherton Quarry was a small village in East / New Kilpatrick.
The marriage date on the children's BCs will confirm it's the right family.
William (as 21) took a couple of years off his age when he married in 1892...
...and Mary (as 19) added some on.
William was born in 1869, and Mary in 1876.
Here they are in the 1881 census.
