Betsy/Elizabeth Young/Smith

Post by Jean Jeanie » Sat Oct 18, 2008 3:19 pm

Help!

I have just downloaded an 1886 will from SP and it is so informative. The gentleman in question is Alexander Young of Whitburn West Lothian and he had 4 daughters and up till now I have only traced one of them. He very kindly left each of the girls £120 and of course provides me with their married names :D

One of the girls is proving very elusive. She is Betsy Young born in 1845 in Livingston West Lothian. She marries Robert Smith in 1875 in Whiturn.

Both she and her husband are mentioned in the will in 1886. Alexander made his will 6 months before his death so she was alive in 1885. So............where are they in 1881? I've searched and searched and cannot find them.

Anyone care to have a look for them. They must be hiding very well or else I'm doing something seriously wrong

Best wishes
Jean

I still can't believe that after 4 years I am still finding things out about my family.

An aquaintance, through family history, went to Whitburn Cemetery and found headstones for the Young Family, took photos, and sent them to me with directions as to where to find them in the cemetery.

I'm at a lost for words. :D :D

Best wishes
Jean
