Was wondering if any kind person out there had access to the 1861 census for the address of 126 Saltmarket Street Glasgow.
The name would be Andrew Law and wife Rose.
Thank you in advance for any help,
Dar

Re 1861 census
Hi Darlene,
I'll check the address in 1861 as soon as able to.
But meantime do you have approx ages, birthplaces, any children?

1861 census
Hi Jack,
Unfortunately the only thing I have with which to go on is that they were born in Ireland. Last night though I was informed that Rose may be dead at this time and Andrew may be the only one still alive. They have been an elusive couple to find coming from Ireland and not much information on them. Address was found on a marriage from their son William.
Any help is sure appreciated.
Thank you for responding,
Dar

1861
Hi Jack,
Son William married Rose Tait on February 12,1861 at St. Andrews Church. Address is listed as 126 Salmarket Street. States Father is Andrew (Low) Law, laborer, Mother is listed as Susan Cunie all born in Ireland. Now on William's death registration it is listed that Susan's last name was McKay? Slight irregularity so not sure which is the correct last name. On the marrige record though it states Mother deceased. This has been a hard family to find anything on, so I do not know if William had any siblings. Also on William's death registration Father Andrew is listed as a weaver.
Hope that this helps, as appreciate you taking time even look for me.
Thank you,
Dar

1861 Census
Hi Dar, a census for you.
Note it's no.136 - there isn't a 126 (nos. were 122, next was 128).
--
1861 cens 644-5 Ed 8 p 19 (Clyde - St. Mary or Tron)
136 Saltmarket.
William LAW, head, marr, 26, foundry labourer, b Co Derry, Ireland
Rose TAIT, wife, marr, 20, house keeper, b Co Derry, Ireland
--
Possibly William & Rose were the only (or the first) to settle in Glasgow?

Many thanks to you
Hi,
Thank you ever so much for doing this for me. The address on the marriage did look like 126 sorry for the inconvenience.
You may very well be correct that William and Rose were the first to come from Ireland and that maybe Andrew and Susan followed. Was hoping that this census might help out with that question.
Again many thanks for your help.
