Hi Annette,
You're welcome! Glad to be of help.
On my first attempt looking only at the 1891 census the search came up with no matches - goodness knows why. Once I used 'all census returns' up it popped.

Well I still can't get it! :?

Ancestry seems to be having problems with Scottish census records at the moment so I'm glad you were able to help.

Annette

It seems at the moment, Ancestry has recovered - so if you check quickly, it should be there!

According to his death entry John's parents were James Bell and Mary Moore but I've never been able to verify this info. As far as I know they came from County Down.

Thanks Annette

Mine are John Bell and Margaret Wilson, dont know where they are from in Ireland.

Joseph married a Mary Hare (also born in Ireland) in 1874 in Partick, i have got Joseph on the 1871 census in Orchard Street in Partick as a lodger but so far no sign of Mary or John's Family
