brick wall

Post by thomsos » Tue May 12, 2009 7:23 pm

 Help please,
I have just uploaded a 1904 mc cert, for a Robert Boyd and Hamilton Gibson.

http://talkingscot.com/gallery/displayi ... ?pos=-1845

I am having a bit of a brick wall moment with the parents of this couple, I can’t seem to find any of them in the 1881 census, or even any of their marriages.
I would really appreciate if someone could give me a little bit of help just to set me on my way.
Thank you
Sandra

Hi Sandra,

William and Grace's wedding is there to find on ScotlandsPeople to give you details on their parents. Look between the 1881 census and the birth of Hamilton for the marriage.

William's address on the marriage certificates indicates that he may have been beyond Scotland at the time of the census.

All the best,

AndrewP

Sandra,

Do you have birth certificates for Robert/Hamilton yet?

There is a Robert Boyd on the 1901 Census with parents James and Elizabeth who was born in Saltcoats, Ayr about 1883 who was a Baker's App. His father was shown as a Seaman though.

I'm wondering if this is your Robert and his father changed occupations by 1904?

Annette, you're too quick!

The family is at the Raise St. address in 1891 with James Sr. still alive.
