Hello Hellen,

Could you give us a little information on your grandmother.

Were her parent's the same as James Jamieson Miller's ?

I did have a look at the IGI for the names mentioned.

ELLEN GORDON DEAS
Birth: 20 FEB 1862 Edinburgh Parish, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland
Parents: Father: ROBERT DEAS Mother: ANN GILCHRIST

Messages: Extracted birth or christening record

JAMES JAMIESON MILLER
Birth: 26 AUG 1858 Bridgeton, Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland
Mother: MARY MILLER

Messages: Extracted birth or christening record

Hello again,

If you look at the 1910 marriage entry for James and Jeanie on SP you should be able to figure out the relationship.

So It looks as if you've found your Great Grand father's birth certificate.

But do take up Nelmit's advice and search for that 1910 marriage on Scotland's People.

It should give you the couple's names, ages & occupations along with the names of their parents mother's maiden name and father's occupation.

From that info: you can work out a lot more - and you'll be hooked on this family tree lark

If you have difficulties using Scotland's People do ask for help.
