Hello
My hope is to try to eliminate from my searches a John PRICE who was a Steward with the White Star Line from at least 1918 to 1924 (cut off point for Ellis Island records). I want to see where he was born.
My thought is that if he was not with the White Star Line in 1911 it is very likely that he was with some other merchant vessel but I can find only Households and Military on the census - no maritime vessels although the blurb says that vessels are listed. There is also nothing obvious from any port where there might be a head office for a steamship line.
I am actually looking for my great uncle John Charles Price who was born 1884 Pontypool and then spent 10 years in the Pontypool Union Workhouse from 3 to 13, losing contact with his siblings.
Any ideas gratefully received on how to track the crews of vessels.
