Hello Clive,

How do you know James and Eliza lived in Calton in 1855?

I found a James BAIRD and Eliza BLAIR married in Bridgeton 1855. They have 10 children (but no William) listed on the IGI. www.familysearch.com

Hi Clive,

Very difficult to find without more info - ages, occupations, other names in family may help.

As Annette asks, how do you know your BAIRD family were in Glasgow 1855?

There are no suitable James & Eliza BAIRD 1851 or 1861 that i can see together at present - none with a William of the right age anyhow.
There are quite a few William BAIRDs though - do you know if he married?

Thanks Annette,

Beginning to understand about the 2 names and the year 1855 - the BAIRD / McLINTOCK marriage.
Still doesn't help me at present though

Later - seems there were a couple of more children, but still nothing on Martha in 1851 census - and as i said, a few possible Williams, but not with parents.

Hi Clive,

Thanks, i suspected the 3 LOGAN children may have been with William BAIRD & Martha in 1861 - i now know they were.
Which certainly does help, because here's Martha in 1851 with hubby Robert LOGAN, and possibly his father & sister.

Hi Clive,

Getting nowhere, just can't see James BAIRD & Eliza in Glasgow in the 1841 census.
I used a number of variants on forenames & surname, but nothing at all looked promising.
Did they die in Scotland?

There are a few Williams aged between 12 - 20yrs in 1841, and some of a suitable age in 1851.
Do you have William's occupation?

Could the family (or only William) have arrived in Scotland after the 1841 or even the 1851 census?

Jack
