Do any of you kind souls have access to the 1901 Scottish census on disc to look for Francis James Paterson and wife Jessie Mary Gordon ? I am helping my "auntie" in Scotland with her line and thought i would ask you out there before shelling out on scotlandspeople !!.
I know this is a long shot as i dont know much about them not even their ages but i do know they married March 1900 in Ordiquhil ( i know ive spelt that wrong !)
Hoping some inquisitive person sees this !!

Hi Tracey
I wish I did have the 1901 census on disks...but to be honest I don't even think they exist in that format.....but then I could be very wrong!! The best I can do is guesstimate and that we all know is an inexact science
I suggest you go to SP and yes shell out a few credits. I'd look myself but my own credits are lying there expired and to be honest my plastic is taking a wee vacation from SP!!
However.....a search in the death indexes for Jessie Gordon Paterson comes up with an interesting entry.....died in 1926 in the parish of Seafield Banff....born in 1876. If she were mine I'd be looking at that real fast to see if it might be the right Jessie.
And then what about their marriage.....c'mon how hard it that to look for? You've already got the details...it's only going to cost you 6 credits....and then you'll see if the parents match the following:
I did peek at the 1881 census which I do have access to and there are a lot of Jessie's.....too many to really try and narrow down (but if you had parent's names I could look her up in a snap!!!). There is one interesting Francis Paterson though that is the only one enumerated in Banff......who knows?...he might turn out to be the one you're looking for!

Hello Jean
Well i pulled my Debit Card, kicking and screaming (me not it !) out of my purse and looked on S/P ! i do resent it now having spent, like you, a small fortune on it over the years ! but got the 1871 and 81 census along with some marriages that i will post on the people forum where the message relating to that is to see if anyone can expand on it.

Doh ! (I watch the Simpsons !)
Forgot to add about Jessie !
The death you found could be her as she according to her marriage was 24 years old in 1900. Her parents were John Gordon and Jessie Barron. So does the death you found give any information ?
This is all i have for her at the moment so a look on the 1881 census would be appreciated

Hi again Tracey!
I didn't realize you already knew the parents etc of Francis Paterson!! With that info I could have given you the right one in the 1881 census (yes that was 1881 census details I posted above). No harm done as you seem to have a good deal of info about him and his family. Now for Jessie. Now that I know her parents names and using the age at marriage then I'm pretty sure this is the correct Gordon family in 1881 with 5 year old Jessie Mary as it's the only one with the correct parent names.

I didn't buy the view of the death record as my credits are expired!!! But if you run a search and narrow it down as to place and age and birth year you can get to the level of data I gave you for free. Only buying the search & subsequent view will provide you with the parents names, cause of death, informant, etc etc........if this record proves to be the right Jessie then it could also serve to further reinforce the census data above.
Hope this is helpful!!!!
Best wishes
