Hello,
I'm wondering if anyone has access to an 1851 index for Renfrewshire? I'm trying to connect the Perth Mcphersons to the Port Glasgow families. Both were involved with seafaring/ship building etc. and my only missing link for 1851 is a Fanny McPherson, who was born in 1825. In 1841 she was living with her father John in Perth (who was possibly born in Port Glasgow - 1794). He died later that year and the children were farmed out to various relatives (the mother died early in 1838).
Thanks in advance for any help.
Best,
Scott

Re: Fanny McPherson - 1851 Renfrewshire?
Hi Scott,
Can't see a Fanny or Frances McPHERSON (or similar) anywhere in Renfrewshire 1851.
Nearest in name & age was a Flora 18 in the Abbey Parish, Paisley, but not with any family of the same surname.
Sorry not better news, but maybe once SP put the all Scotland censuses online you'll find her - hope so.

Hi Jack,
Many thanks for taking the time to look through the indexes. I'll add Fanny to my growing list of people to look up in the earlier census returns - which will hopefully be online before the next century!
Best wishes,
Scott
