Hi Clive,

These look like yours, and if so then you've got a lot of names to search! Will get details at one point. [details now added]
Please note the slight differences with the "MILHOLAND" name.
What should be the occupations of fathers William "MILHOLAND" & Robert DAVIDSON be?
Not sure if you have Robert & Isabella in 1881, but here they are anyway (i needed it to find where/when Isabella was born).

Hi Clive,

I've edited my previous post to include the census details. Seems William "MULHOLAND" had a couple of other occupations.
--
In 1861 Robert DAVIDSON (49) is as MARRIED, but i can't see wife Isabella (or similar name) elsewhere in Lanarkshire - not even under her ms of PATERSON.
Robert being as married may, of course, have been an error - and was meant to say widower.
We know Isabella was still living on the 24th Oct 1859 - daur Cordelia's birth date. So if she has died by 1861, then it's quite a narrow window to find her DC.

And i'd be VERY surprised if Robert & William DAVIDSON aren't related.

Hi Clive,

Wouldn't surprise me to hear that William (b~1801) & Robert (b~1811) DAVIDSON were brothers,
who married sisters Margaret & Isabella PATERSON.

Below are two gents who might be worth looking at too if you're wanting to find siblings of your Robert.
Both were in Glassford 1851 & 1861, and living very near to Robert (and William).
But Chapelton isn't a large village, so would be difficult not to live nearby!

Alexander DAVIDSON, b Ireland abt 1808 [wife possibly Lilias SEMPLE]
Samuel DAVIDSON, b Ireland abt 1816 [wife probably Lilias MUIR].

ps, wonder who this couple are. Robert, Alexander, and Samuel all had a daur Elizabeth of a marriageable age in 1861.
JAMES DAVIDSON
ELIZABETH DAVIDSON
Marriage: 12 JUL 1861 Glassford, Lanark, Scotland

Alexander & Samuel Davidson

Post by Jack » Thu Aug 25, 2005 11:20 pm

Hi Clive,

If you'd like Alexander & Samuel DAVIDSON in Chapelton 1851 & 1861 censuses then please just say (i've got a note of them).
By the way, about 20% of the population in Glassford Parish for those 2 censuses are PATERSONs.
