I need a census lookup ffor 1871 in Glasgow either the Aanderson district as that where he was in 1861 or Kelvin as that was where he was when he died.

I am looking for Murdoch Muir and his wife Mary with children can anyone help please?

Hello Heather,

The 1871 census can be found on www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk.

I looked for Murdo* M*r in Lanarkshire but there was no result.

Hi Heather,

Can't help with 1871, but if the family aren't in Glasgow, then maybe check the town of Renfrew?
Seems daur Mary MUIR was born there on 15 Oct 1871.

Thanks for the info I did not know that Mary was born there as I have that she was born Glasgow. As far as I knew the family were born Anderson and the father was in Kelvin when he died in 1875. That's why i thought the family were still in Glasgow.

Annette thanks for looking at SP for me they must have moved and came back after the census to Glasgow I will have look into it some more.

Hi Heather,

I dare say you'll have these from the IGI; possibly the 1st Mary has died 1867-1871.
This is presuming that the 2nd Mary IS of the same family - BC would need to be checked to confirm parents' marriage is 9th May 1856.
But she does slot in nicely between Murdoch (b1869 Anderston) & Helen (b1873 Tradeston).

Hi Jack

Thanks for that info I had not checked the IGI as a freind had gave me the children but told me that all were born Anderson except Helen wwho was born Tradeson.

I did a serch on SP and cannot find him in Renrew either for the 1871 census. I can get 58 over 3 pages for the whole of Scotland ttriedd Ayr and Kilmarnock too woth no luck. So who knows where he was living then.
