Hi Cherel
Have you tried Freecen? Ross and Cromarty is 100% completed, but...
Being a mariner, I suppose there may be a chance he was at sea when the census was taken.
Best wishes

Hi Cherel,
Here's the link to the other topic for anyone who hasn't followed it: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=16067
However, since he was already in his 20s in 1841, he may not be with his parents...
All the best,
Sarah
Were none of the Donald McLeans who died between 1861 and 1871 him, then? Or were his parents' names not given on the death cert?cherel1 wrote: i do not know who his parents were

Go to www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk to download these records on a pay-per-view basis.

Re: 1841 census
If he married in 1846, which is prior to Statuatory Registration in 1855, there will most likely be no parents mentioned in the OPR record of the banns/marriage. You should also be able to find the marriage/banns entry to download on the ScotlandsPeople site for a small fee.i think i can only send for marriage cert now as on the web there are no parents on it
