Hi Folks
Yet again I'm needing your help!! I seem to have lost a whole family in Glasgow in the 1911 census, I know they were definately living in Glasgow as John Bowers married my gran in 1913 and the address was 2 Vinnecombe Street Glasgow and he was a commercial traveller. I've got them on ancestry for the 1901 census here is what it says:
Name:
Christina Bowers 19 Estimated Birth Year: 1882 (Daughter) born Glasgow
Father's Name:George Bowers
Where born:Glasgow, LanarkshireRegistration district:Kelvin
Civil parish:Glasgow Maryhill Address:26 Kelvin Drive Occupation:Housekeeper
George Bowers 49
Christina Bowers 19
Elizabeth Bowers 18
George Bowers 16
William Bowers 14
John Bowers 12
James Bowers 9
Albert Bowers 7
Helen Bowers5
Have tried various members on the SP site but keep coming up with nothing, I'm sure some kind soul will point me in the right direction.
Thanks ever so much.

Hi Aileen,
The whole family that you listed from the 1901 census are still all in the same household group in 1911. They are at the address you have for them in 1913, mis-indexed as BORDERS.
You can choose to contact ScotlandsPeople to seek a refund of credits used while searching fruitlessly for BOWERS.
All the best,
AndrewP

Thanks so much, I couldn't for the life of me figure where they'd gone!lol!
That's amazing cos only last week I had to email SP to tell them my gran had gone missing, they did refund the credits though so that's something, John Bowers was my Gran's first husband.
Cheers for this much appreciated.

You need to learn how to use wildcards or one of the other methods available on ScotlandsPeople that allow a search on the basis of alternative/misindexed/corrupted spellings.gwennypenny wrote:where are you finding all this info out? where would I look? i have credits but I wasted some of them and still found out nothing .

My favourite is 'Fuzzy Matching' but there's plenty others. Simply click on the down arrow at the end of the surname box to see the drop-down list; the help question-mark gives some guidance on the various possibilities. The same applies for given names.
