Hi everyone, I was wondering how I can find out who lived in 60 Auchinraith Road, Blantyre around 1914. My Dad enlisted without his Mothers permission and that is the address that is showing on his WW1 records, I am wondering if maybe a family member lived there.
Any suggestions
cheers
Margaret

Hi Margaret
Scotlands People now has the 1915 Valuation Rolls.
There is a 60 Merrys Row, Auchinraith Road. Occupant is a William Lindsay, miner.
If this is not what you're looking for, you might get further by searching on relevant surnames.
Cheers

Hi Hibee
Many thanks for your help, that does help, I was curious to see if a family by the name of Morton lived there as my Dad was John Morton. Dad was only 16 when he first inlisted so my guess is he gave the wrong address, he re inlisted again just before his 18th. I will go look at the valuation rolls and see if there are any Morton's nearby...
Cheers

Hi Margaret
You should find an Agnes Morton at No.2, and a John Morton at No.10 Auchinraith Road.

It's more likely that Merrys Row formed a small section of the larger Auchinraith Road. Quite a common occurrence in UK.

Resulting from a Google on Auchinraith Road Merry, 'Merry Court' appears to be currently part of Auchinraith Road, - see

Re: 60 Auchinraith Road Blantyre
Hello Annette
Thanks for the help from the 1915, records. My Dad is causing me all sorts of problems now, I have his regiment numbers and they match up with the records (from the burned records) that I had researched and sent to me in Australia several years ago. Now I find out that the John Morton in Auchinraith Road, Blantyre is listed as born in England so I am really not sure what is going on. My Dad was born in Blantyre and lived in Springwell Terrace, High Blantyre at the age of 2 years.
Are you talking about the photo's of the Scottish lads away at war that I have on my tree at ancestry??? If so yes they are mine.
cheers
