I have been looking for John & Mary Key in the 1891 census for about a year.
John Key & Mary Lundie married in Edinburgh in 1880. I have them on the census for 1881, 1901 and 1911in various parts of Edinburgh. I can't/couldn't find them in 1891.
John was born in Monifieth in 1837 and Mary in Auchterhouse, Dundee about 1846.
I have searched for John Key aged 52-54 and there are two results. One in Portmoak, Kinross aged 54 and one in Anderston, Glasgow aged 53. Neither are "my" John Key.
Search for Mary Key aged 42-45 and there are two results. One in St. Mary, Dundee aged 43 and one in Forfar aged 44. Neither are "my" Mary.
One of their children is Matilda born about 1886. No results at all come up for her.
I have Pay as you go credits on FMP and the other night I put in their details and straight away get a result. They are still in Edinburgh, John 53, Mary 45, five children plus Matilda aged 5!!
After all that my question is - am I having a senior moment(s)?? or are they really not on SP. Have they been mis-indexed or am I not seeing something that is right in front on me?
Regards
Christine

Hello Christine,
The senior moment is not yours The entire family is indexed under the surname Hay. Even Ancestry got them right that time! But since Hay is also a possible name, it looks like the indexers at SP jumped to wrong conclusions.
All the best,
Sarah

Hi Sarah,
Many thanks for checking. Glad this wasn't a senior moment - I have enough of them as it is! I was just so pleased I found them.

Hi Christine,
You should report this to SP and give them an estimate of how many credits you think you have used up without a reasonable chancwe of finding the correct result. You should then get a refund of some credits, and they can put it down for a correction in their index for a future update.
All the best,
AndrewP

Hi AndrewP, I had wondered if I would be able to have any credits refunded. Will contact SP and see what happens.

Christine.
