Could this be Margaret & sister without parents? (Later Edit: Sorry, didn't notice possible mother Mary on there, although she is shwoing as unmarried.)
The street name is spelt Havannah on some of the other dwellings.

Can`t find on the 1881 census
Hi Cathy,
On the 1881 census at 17, Adelphi St., Barony, Glasgow, there is a James Cairns (34) and his wife Mary Cairns Brobi, they have an 11 year old Maggie Cairns. James worked as a Drop hammer operator / or sometimes known as Drop Forge operators, sometimes they just refered to themselves as Hammermen. Another possiblity is that Hugh`s real name was James, and was called Hugh, by the family (my name is John but my parents called me Ian (Gaelic for John).
Worth a try

Can`t find on the 1881 census
Hi again Cathy,
On reflection my last post can`t be the same family, the parents of that Margaret were James Cairns and Mary Brodie.
Also, looking at the info for Havannah St., I would expect the mother of Margaret and Sarah Kearns to be the Mary Kearns (31), niece of the occupier John Kerr, and she was unmarried, and your Hugh Cairney & Mary Craten were married 28 Jun 1867 @ Calton, Glasgow.
Do you know when Hugh`s wife died, as there is a Hugh Cairney (47), Ireland, Widower, Boiler Maker at : 6a, North Clyde St., Glasgow
Also discovered Havannah St. was opened in 1763 and named by Gavin Williamson in honour of the capture of Cuba (he was in the naval contingent), and his prize money built the first tenement there, it later disappeared when the College Railway Station was extended.
Good hunting
John
