'Eigg Roll'
The Eigg Roll is the nickname for the 'parish of small isles' 1764/65 census. Would anyone here have access to this? I am looking to obtain a photocopy, digital copy, etc. There is no online database that has this, that I can find. All other online sources ie-blogs, only mention in part some of the info on it. I have verbal stories of my MCLEOD ancestors living on Eigg during this time frame. However they may have been living under a surname alias of 'SWAN'. Any info would be appreciated.

Hi RiverSong,
These papers could be in the National Archives of Scotland. I have had a search and not found them yet. There are various 'clanranald papers' there from that era referring to Eigg and the Small Isles. It may be worth your while trying various different search terms in their online index and see if you have better luck than I did.

If you do find the papers in there, it would be worth your while sending them an e-mail to ask about the price of sending photocopies to you.
[Later edit]
I see one of our TalkingScot members has a copy of these papers.
See viewtopic.php?f=3&t=15773 for more info.
All the best,
