1921 Census

Post by speleobat2 » Sun Oct 18, 2020 12:36 pm

Does anyone know the release date for the 1921 census for Scotland? Is it the same for England?

The next US release is the 1950 census and that will be on April 1, 2022.

Hi Carol,

The 1921 census was later than the usual March / April. It was 19th to 20th June, representing those in the house over that night.

On the ScotlandsPeople website, all I can see is that the 1921 census will be released in 2021 - no date. The NRS website says similar: "The 1921 census will be released in 2021 after its 100 year closure period has ended". If the 100 year closure is taken in its literal sense, then it won't be released until sometime in June 2021. The 1911 census was released on ScotlandsPeople in April 2011.

FindMyPast talks about releasing it in January 2022, but that is for England / Wales only.

All the best,

AndrewP

Thanks, Andrew!

Well, that gives us something to look forward to and after this year, I'll take it! :)
