Re: 1921 Census
I'm off work for the next couple of days; was already planned. I now know where some of my time [and money] will be going.
Be aware that ScotlandsPeople will be offline for the three hours [6am to 9am] prior to the 1921 census release at 9am on 30-Nov-2022.
All the best,
AndrewP

If anyone needs an abbreviation "translated" a fairly comprehensive list can be found at https://www.oldscottish.com/blog/what-t ... 921-census

Re: 1921 Census
It has been mentioned elsewhere, that the census that year was on 19th of July, so many may have been on holiday.
So not all showing up where you may expect.
Try widening your search.
A couple of glitches showed up for me - sometimes they give the results in neat pages of 25 per page, others in one page of 300+ results!!!
Many of my lot[s] have been found under 'pet' or shortened names ie Maggie for Margaret and Lizzie for Elizabeth - so beware esp. as the search defaults to 'exact names' and you have to select 'wildcards' each time.
Otherwise it's going fairly smoothly.

Re: 1921 Census
Is anyone else having trouble with the wildcard symbol * ?
If I try it, I get no results. This implies we must know the correct spelling but some of the names I have have variations, such as Cotterill.
Frustrating!

Re: 1921 Census
Using both ' * ' and ' ? '
are working OK for me BUT you need to go to 'Search Options' and click 'Wildcards Allowed'
before they will work.
It is a nuisance, as you have to do it for each search field each time - before if you put in a wildcard it automatically switched from 'exact names' to 'wildcards allowed' .
I've had to re-do dozens of searches
