I've really been enjoying myself this past weekend , finding all of my ancestors on the England 1851 census which has just become available online.
I wish I knew when I'd be able to do the same with the Scottish 1851 census ( and the 1861 for that matter!).
Does anyone have any 'insider' knowledge of when ScotlandsPeople (or anywhere else) might be aiming to launch it? I'm straining at the leash now.....

Have you already had a look at
http://Freecen.rootsweb.com ?
There are 1851 Census indexes available for some of the Scottish regions.
Won't it be great when all the Census are online?
Or will it? My bank account won't like it, that's for sure.
Happy searching;

Where does one find the 1851 census for England online?
Searching for Keogh, Kelly, Fitzgerald, Riddell, Stewart, Wilson, McQuilkin, Lynch, Boyle, Cairney, Ross, King, McIlravey, McCurdy, Drennan and Woods (to name but a few).
Also looking for any information on Rathlin Island, County Antrim, Ireland.

It was here http://www.1851-census.co.uk however it seems to have gone again. I don't think it has been officially launched, the address above appeared to be a back-door of sorts into the database. I found this out through looking at another forum. I would imagine a formal 'launch' is on the cards.
Cheers,
Scott

Hi,
Yes, I'd already looked on FreeCen - which is going to be fantastic - but the part of Aberdeen I'm after isn't included yet ( isn't it always the case?).
I got to the 1851 English census through -
http://content.ancestry.co.uk/Browse/li ... =8860&path
It was up and running all weekend (so was I!!)
