Robert Lee on Census .....

Hi All, and a Happy New Year

This is my first posting to talking scots, I would like to know if anyone could help me with the 1871 census.
I am looking for Robert LEE and wife Isabella LEE nee Gallacher, they have 5 children,
Charles, Isabella, Annie, John and Robert. I have this family in the 1881(minus Robert Snr), 1891 1901census.
I have a great deal of information on this family but am now stuck untill 1841-1871 census comes on line so if anyone out there could help I would
very greatful.

But they had 6 children before 1874, John, the eldest was born in Glasgow in 1859 (four days after they married), he must have died and the other John named after him, I suspect that he died too and John became Robert Thomas became John in the 1881 census. But in the 1881 census there are also six children:

No sign of a birth for James!

There are a couple of possible Roberts on the Highland's disc of the 1881 census, some on boats, others in barracks. What was Robert's occupation?

Thanks for your reply.
I do have the 1881 census info for this family trouble is Isabella says she is a widow, but Robert was living alone in 1891 and with his youngest child John, wife Matilda and family in 1901,(Robert died in 1 04 1906 in Glasgow).
I also have all births of children except Robert b abt 1869. which I got off Scotlands people,Robert snr was born in Liverpool 1832 and left before the 1851 census never to return as far as I know, he was a Tobacco pipe maker

Sorry, I had noticed that Isabella was listed as a widow but misunderstood the first post I thought that 1881 was the only one that you couldn't find Robert.

Thanks for looking anyway, although I have lot of info on this lot they have not made it easy to find them, but that is what makes it more rewarding when you do

Hello Irene,

Sorry for getting your name wrong earlier.

I had a look the family on the IGI.
If you post the address where Thomas was born in 1873 I could look that up the next time I'm at 'The Mitchell' although I don't know when that will be.

Some one else might be there earlier than me though.

James b22 June 1879 the family are now living at 12 Barony Street Glasgow.
Thomas and James are the only 2 I couldnt find on the IGI.

Hi Irene,

I entered a 'parent search' on the IGI and that is how I found Thomas.
I shall have a look at Havannah ?Street? when I can.

Have you seen this man on the 1881 census?
Surely he's got to be related!!!

Notice that John from the IGI is exactly the right age for Robert in the census and Thomas in IGI the same age as John in the census. No sign of James tho'
